Paralympics Community Fun Day | LinkAble

It's just one week until you can play accessible sports at our Paralympics and Community Fun Day!

While we count down the days, let's take a look at what you can expect from the event.

Why are we putting this event on?

As the 2024 Paralympic Games kick off in Paris at the end of August, we thought it would be fun to hold our own version right here in Woking. It's a great opportunity to try accessible sports and maybe even win a medal!

With our community feeling shaken by recent events, we think this day is a brilliant opportunity for people from all walks of life to unite and have some fun.

Who is the event for?

Everyone! We have chosen sports that give people of all abilities a level playing field so that everyone can enjoy playing together.

What sports can I play at the event?

The sports include Boccia, Walking Football and Accessible Cycling run by charity, Wheels for All.

Boccia - a Paralympic sport that involves throwing, kicking, or using a ramp to propel balls towards a target ball, called a jack, on a court. The game is similar to bowls, and tests players' muscle control and accuracy. Boccia was originally designed for people with cerebral palsy but is now played by athletes with a wide range of disabilities that affect motor skills.

Walking football - a modified version of the traditional game, specifically designed to be more accessible and inclusive, making it ideal for people of all abilities who want to participate.

Accessible cycling - use specially adapted bikes, Wheels for All will support you to experience the fun of cycling.
