Last year, we were so thankful to receive a fantastic £20,000 grant from The Fidelis Foundation to support our adult services.
This generosity marked the start of a partnership that has had an enormous impact and resulted in LinkAble having the capacity to run more services for adults. In addition to expanding the number of people we can support in our daytime groups, we have also introduced a new Thursday group, with a Monday group also starting shortly!
An updated space for adults
Part of our plan to expand ‘No Limits’- our service for adults, has been to revamp our cafe area to make it a more grown-up space. We have recently cleared out old equipment and plan to bring in sofas to make it a comfortable place for people to chill out.
Continuing their support, last week, we welcomed a team on behalf of The Fidelis Foundation for a day of corporate volunteering. As part of our plan to make our café area more appropriate for our older attendees, we wanted to give the area a fresh new look. Luckily for us, Denise Bareford and Alice Conlon from Fidelis Insurance Group and Allan Musoke and Philip Champkin from Fidelis MGU were on hand to help!
A job well done
This was no small task as the LinkAble Café area is a well-used space, so the walls need thorough cleaning and preparation before the painting could begin. However, after six hours, a lot of elbow grease and a biscuit or two later, the cafe looks brand new!
There are so many more adults with a learning disability and autistic adults who could benefit from our support. Thanks to this generous help from The Fidelis Foundation, we now have a better space to welcome even more people to become part of the LinkAble community!
We have very recently updated our daytime groups for adults. So, why not join a group and see the new café for yourself?
