We currently have a vacancy for a Group Leader. 

LinkAble is a Woking based charity that supports people with a learning disability and autistic people to create the life they want to live.  Each year, we provide over 300 children, young people, and adults access to a wide range of activities that develop skills, confidence, and lasting friendships.

Group Leader (Afterschool Club)

£14.29 an hour, Part-time in Woking.

Job role 

Working with the After School Manager to lead and manage a team. You will assist in delivering a wide range of activities for children and young people with additional needs. Ensuring a fun, stimulating and safe environment for attendees at all times.

Key responsibilities
As part of the leadership team for the group you will:

  • Liase with the Deputy Group Leader to ensure the effective, efficient delivery and overall management of the group
  • Carry out briefings or debriefs
  • Ensure that all offsite trips have been carefully planned and properly executed. Including regular head counts and registers throughout the day.
  • Support the staff to deliver a fun, stimulating and safe environment for service users at all times.
  • Supervise staff to support and enable service users to develop their independence, appropriate to each individual, whilst supporting participation within a group setting
  • Supervise and coach staff and volunteers to work with children with a range of needs and behaviours.
  • Carry out 1:1 meetings with staff to support their development
  • Encourage staff to share tips on how to support individual service users
  • Update individual service user profiles with any developmental or behaviour changes
  • Be responsible for reporting or supporting staff to report any safeguarding issues or concerns to the appropriate
  • Line Manager, Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), LADO, CSPA or CEO
  • Fill any open spaces to those on the waiting list
  • Take photos during the sessions to support with marketing and fundraising
  • Read, share with staff and follow any risk assessments for the session
  • Complete declarations and on the day risk assessment sheets
  • Ensure all staff, volunteers and visitors are signed in and out of the register
  • Complete any incident and accident forms and report these back to parents and carers at the end of the session
  • Set up and encourage all service users to take part in the planned activities
  • Sign in, check and administer any required medication
  • Ensure outside checklists, cleaning checklists and end of day checklists are completed each day.
  • Remind and support staff with the completion of their timesheets to ensure these have been given to the service manager by the 6 of each month.
  • Ensure that all staff have given their service users their snacks and drinks throughout the day
  • Group leader to start cleaning/ tidying before the end of the day and encourage service users to join in.

 
The set working hours for this role are:

Monday - Thursday

  • 2.30pm - 7.45pm on Mondays
  • 2:30pm - 6:45pm Tuesdays to Thursdays

Expected hours: No less than 18 per week

About you

  • GCSE or equivalent (required)
  • Experience: supporting children with SEND/Learning Disabilities: 1 year (required)
  • Licence/Certification: Driving Licence (preferred)
