David & Julian
'I enjoy my role looking after the garden and outside space, it’s very satisfying to help in a simple but effective way'
David and Julian volunteered as gardeners helping to maintain the LinkAble outside areas and garden.
Julian says, "Having retired about 5 years ago I have built up a number of varied volunteering jobs one of which is gardening at a residential home near where I live. It was there I met David who started at the same time as me and he mentioned he worked at LinkAble. Coincidentally I had looked on the local Council's website previously and saw they were looking for gardeners and so I said I could help him on a Tuesday.
I found all volunteering very rewarding and no less so at LinkAble as the people who use this charity's services are able to enjoy working or playing in the lovely landscaped gardens at the rear. Therefore, I find that helping to keep these areas presentable can only benefit all participants at this great facility. Having seen some young people enjoying the outside areas has given me great pleasure.
Anybody thinking about what they could offer LinkAble as a volunteer only needs to look at the website or contact the organisation as there will be some skills they possess that could be brought into good use and exercised to all party's benefit."
David adds, "I volunteered for Linkable as they do such amazing work for people of all ages with learning disabilities. I enjoy my role looking after the garden and outside space, it’s very satisfying to help in a simple but effective way. Having to operate with tight budgets Linkable value any help any volunteers can offer to help the team reach its aim."
