Today is the start of Learning Disability Week, 2024!
This year's theme is 'Do you see me?' which we thought was the perfect opportunity to launch the LinkAble '250 hours of fun' summer fundraiser.
But wait—what have hours of fun got to do with being seen?
According to Mencap research, one in three young people with a learning disability spends less than one hour outside their home on a typical Saturday.
Well, we won't stand for this!
How we can help
At LinkAble, we are all about getting out into the community, getting stuck in and being seen! We need to raise £7,000 to deliver 250 hours of fun activities for children, young people and adults with a learning disability and autism. These hours will include engaging activities like visits to local attractions, messy play sessions, forest yoga classes, accessible fitness, and so much more!
How you can help
For every hour of support delivered, we need to raise £27.52. This is in addition to the funding received from the local authority and the contribution that parents and carers make through session fees. But with your help, we can ensure that the people we support can access opportunities that develop skills, confidence and most importantly, lasting friendships.
Please donate if you can, share our social media posts and share with your friends and colleagues. You could also set up your own fundraiser such as a coffee morning or sponsored run.
If you fundraise through JustGiving you can link the '250 hours of fun' campaign to your page, and anything you raise will go towards our target.
