LinkAble

My daughter is very much looking forward to being at LinkAble again, she was so excited yesterday, she was clapping her hands and beaming with joy so I do really feel she benefits greatly from being part of your team there.

The activities we offer could not take place without the support of our fantastic volunteers. Our volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds; some help us every week, others once a month and some can only lend a hand during the holidays. There are many different reasons why you might choose to volunteer with us, including:

  •  To make a difference to the lives of our service users.
  •  To gain new skills.
  •  To help enhance your CV/personal statement.
  •  To gain valuable work experience.
  •  If you're aged 16-25, to help you work towards your V10,  V50 or V100 award through vInspired.
  •  Accreditation towards your Duke of Edinburgh award.
  •  To develop your confidence.

Many of our volunteers go on to secure paid work with us. Keep an eye on our available Vacancies, particularly in the lead up to our holiday schemes.

Please refer to our Services page for a full weekly timetable.

If you are aged 16+, you can help with any of our groups/activities listed in the Children and Youth timetables.

If you are aged 18+, you can help with all of the above as well as any groups/activities in the Transitional and Adult timetables. You might also be interested in helping us at Linkafé with one of its groups.

Finally, as well as the above, we are always delighted to receive other volunteering offers for any other skills you might feel you can offer us! For example:

  • Helping at our playschemes during the school holidays.
  • Staffing our reception.
  • Supporting the office staff with general admin.
  • Driving our minibus.
  • And much much more!

If you would like to have a chat about volunteering please contact our HR Manager Shirley Formby, either by phone on 01483 770037 or email and arrange to meet with her. Shirley will talk to you in more detail about our work and what you might like to help with. During this meeting she will also start the DBS (police) check process with you.

Everyone that works at LinkAble in any capacity must have a valid check in place before they can start.

When you arrange to meet Shirley she will ask you to bring in THREE pieces of identification (ID) with you as part of this DBS process. You can see a list of what ID is accepted here; please note that some pieces of ID are time-limited. If you're unsure about the process in any way, don't hesitate to ask Shirley who will be able to advise you further.

It can take approximately four weeks to get your DBS certificate back but, once you do, you can get started!
